So I ordered a cargo mat for my Volt. When it arrived I noticed that before rolling it to ship it it was folded in half. Even after three days of laying out inside the house there is still a noticeable hump in the center of the mat.
Anyone have thoughts on getting it to lay flat?

Hair dryer? Heat gun on low?

Weigh down flat once warm, let cool?

I tried a hair dryer and no luck. Unfortunately I don’t have a heat gun.
I may try laying a damp towel across the crease and going over it with a warm iron next.

Under the mattress for a couple days?

It’s currently hanging across the top of a wooden bench. Hoping it’s own weight will flatten it out.

I’m trying but the rocket thrusts from N Korea keep opposing my efforts.

Hairdryer or heatgun, maybe? Fold it the other way across a rod/dowel (broom?) then heat the outside of the bend. Carefull if you use an actual heatgun: I’ve borked stuff up with one before misjudging the intensity of the heat. But you’ll be heating the underside, so minor marking won’t hurt a bit. Let us know what works.

I appreciate the effort.
I tried running as fast as possible to force a shift, but as an out of shape man that was never fast to begin with it didn’t work.

Hey, I appreciate any effort to help.
It is currently draped over the back of a wooden bench. I may try a damp towel and warm iron tomorrow and put it back there tomorrow.
I may also retry the hair dryer that way. Maybe a little heat combined with the pressure is the answer.

Yah: heat and pressure together seems like it should work. Maybe... fold it the other way(upside in). Put a broom in the crease, kneel on the edge and push the ends of the broom away from you while your faithful helper sweeps the heat back-and-forth along the outside(downside) of the fold. Is that clear? As mud, I bet!
Hey, can you set that bench where the sun will warm it along the folded edge?

The bench is actually right in front of a big picture window. My fingers are crossed.

Mine too. Let us know if it works, please
Hey, way OT, but I’m getting frustrated trying to post a post. I finally managed to get a draft saved, but then the options I see when I googled ‘how to...’ aren’t visible on my draft page. Could you kindly point me in the right direction? Thanks much.

What are the options google is telling you that you should see?
I will say that I have severe issues posting from a computer as opposed to from my phone.
If I save a draft I have to choose to create a new post and then to recover draft to get back to it. Then just select publish in the bottom right.
Hopefully that helps.

I can ‘share it’ ‘to Kinja’, but that only posts it to my acct. I can’t find an option to share it to Oppo.
The Composition page I found on Google is the Kinja Help Desk, but that shows all sorts of options I don’t see on the page I’m composing on.
Grrr! Well, it’s late and I’m aggravated and burning precious sleep time. I prob best leave it till the morrow. Appreciate the help

Have you been granted authorship on OPPO by any of the mods? If not check for one of the posts offering the chance to get it.
Here’s one I found through google. I don’t know if it’s still active.

If you have I would contact one of the moderators to see if they can get it sorted for you.

Here’s screenshots of what I see on google, then what I see when I try it. I’ll sleep on it and try again tomorrow
Whuff! The middle one is Google, the bottom is the top 1/2 of my draft, top is bottom. Geeze...

Near the top where it shows your screen name with the arrow pointing downwards; click on that arrow. For me that is how i switch between posting to my personal kinja section and Oppositelock. If Oppositelock doesn’t appear in the drop down menu I would contact a moderator to see if they can get the setting restored for you. If it does you can select oppositelock in that box and be ready to roll.
With mine if I click where it says publish I get a text box confirming whether or not I want to publish it to Oppositelock when I have that selected.

Is the hump intentional? Like for the hump between the seats in the rear foot wells?

This is actually for the rear cargo area.
This is for a first generation Volt. The rear seat floor mats are separate pieces because there is a console between the rear seats that is on top of the battery.

I dont know. I don’t think it’ll ever come out. I had a similar thing with the mats in my truck. Mind you they gave me carpeted and rubber ones when I bought it. My rubber ones had a problem like that, but I just let it go. Now it falls PERFECTLY into spot everytime I pull it out
Although I do have a hump between the seats for the rear set floor.

The bulk of the hump came out by using a combo of a damp towel and warm iron followed by hanging it across the back of a wooden bench. What’s left is barely noticeable.
I tried to update the post after trying this, but it didn’t work.
